American Kestrel Foundation

The American Kestrel population has declined significantly over the years all across the country. Although there is some speculation as to why it is widely accepted that the true reason for this decline is not yet fully understood. Hudson Farm has made the commitment to be a part of the American Kestrel Society research project. As part of the study Hudson Farm has placed 15 Kestrel nesting boxes on their properties. All boxes are a minimum of 10 feet off the ground and spaced approximately .5 miles apart and near open space and agricultural fields. The boxes will have cameras placed on them in an effort to monitor activity and be monitored by staff on a weekly basis during the breeding season beginning in March.
